  • David is especially concerned about using the best scientific and coaching information to assist all swimmers to have excellent and graceful technique.  He is particularly interested in the coaching paradigm of coaches Professor Bill Boomer and Milt Nelms which he believes can assist both development swimmers and elite performance athletes to achieve the best results

Favorite Quote

“The fact is, that the athletes who came to me ready to learn, ready to listen, ready to act on what they learned and try it my way, even if it was more challenging, more difficult than they imagined, were ready to get more out of our program. And they were my favorites.”  John Leonard, Executive Director, American Swim Coaches Association.

Other

Like many others, David's involvement in swimming began through his children. All three made State Age finals at an early age, with two becoming Country and State Medallists. Two went on to be National Age Swimmers and finalists while the third represented the ACT in Cross Country Running. All three have competed university degrees in various fields (which David believes shows how swimming can aid, not hinder, academic excellence). He has also been a committee member of three ACT clubs over 16 years including President of Telopea for three years and was ACT Competitions Coordinator for three years introducing several changes of benefit to ACT swimmers. He loves good rock music, blues, contemporary jazz, home renovation and building. Favourite TV programs are Law and Order and Top Gear .
